Congratulations! Having debuted at Meguiar’s MotorEx 2018, this 1938 Fordson van has been knocking them dead everywhere it’s been. Known as Speedbox, it was built by Jack and Keith Zee from Johnny Z’s Hot Rod & Custom Shop. In reality, to call this incredible ride a 1938 Fordson van is quite a disservice. As, other than some sections of the quarter panels, everything else has been either radically modified, or hand-made from scratch.
Powering this insane machine is an 8/71-blown, EFI injected, 383ci Chev, twisting a TH700 and full-floater 9in. Speedbox’s wheels are quite special. They’re Ian Splatt one-offs, originally made for another famous hot rod; California T. The boys bought them 15 years ago and have had them tucked away ever since!
Built to be driven, it sports a full custom chassis, double A-arm front end, 4-bar rear and hefty disks all ’round. Inside there’s very little trimming, its mostly intricate, hand-made steal, all exquisitely painted.
